Description

OVERVIEW:

Adaptive kayaks are designed to help people with mobility challenges, such as wheelchair users, to get out on the water.

This event is designed for Hoofer volunteers and Outdoor UW Staff to learn about disability and about adaptive kayaks, how to help people in and out of them, their features, and how to deal with a capsize.  We will be learning from Rachael Lewandowski-Sarette, who is the On-Site and Accessibility Program Coordinator at Upham Woods, and other Upham Woods staff.

There is one adaptive kayak available at Outdoor UW, and one is also owned by Upham Woods.
