Event Information

Description

This day trip to the Lake serves as a chance for new climbers to learn how to tope rope and experienced climbers to practice! During the clinic we'll be going over...

  1. How to tie a climber into a top rope with a double-backed figure eight knot (and storage knot)
  2. How to set up a top rope belay using an ATC
  3. How to check a climber/belayer before climbing
  4. How to perform a top rope belay
  5. What effective communication between a top roper and belayer looks like

If all goes well we should arrive at the CCC parking lot around 9:30AM and head up to the East Bluffs. If you require transportation we'll have 2 fleet minivans checked out that can transport 2 passengers each. For those riding fleet, plan to meet outside of the Memorial Union Circle (parking circle between Memorial Union and Helen C. White hall) at 8AM.

If you're interested in riding in one of the fleet van please email Peter Matthews at pjmatthews@wisc.edu.

There are currently 1/4 open seats in the fleet vans.
