This day trip to the Lake serves as a chance for new climbers to learn how to tope rope and experienced climbers to practice! During the clinic we'll be going over...
- How to tie a climber into a top rope with a double-backed figure eight knot (and storage knot)
- How to set up a top rope belay using an ATC
- How to check a climber/belayer before climbing
- How to perform a top rope belay
- What effective communication between a top roper and belayer looks like
If all goes well we should arrive at the CCC parking lot around 9:30AM and head up to the East Bluffs. If you require transportation we'll have 2 fleet minivans checked out that can transport 2 passengers each. For those riding fleet, plan to meet outside of the Memorial Union Circle (parking circle between Memorial Union and Helen C. White hall) at 8AM.

- Food won't be provided, so pack snacks, lunches, and water!
- Safety plan information to be shared with attendees:
- Trip leaders (Cameron and Peter) will enforce our COVID policies. If trip members fail to respect all of the COVID policies, they will not participate with the rest of the trip. If a member breaks COVID policies at the lake, they’ll be responsible for getting their own ride back.
- Sanitation plan for any equipment used during the event:
- 1. Badger Badge will be checked before riding fleet vehicles by a trip leader. 2. If a UW student arrives by their own ride, their Badger badge will be checked in the CCC parking lot. 3. In fleet vehicles, there will be 1 person per row. 4. Fleet Vehicles will be wiped down with clorox wipes before & after using. 5. Enforcing face masks in fleet vehicles and while in close quarters at the lake (Once a climber is well-distanced (>20 feet) from their belayer, they can choose to take off their mask. The climber must put it back on before coming down) 6. Hand sanitizer and clorox wipes will be readily available throughout the day 7. Social distancing will be enforced (>6 feet at all times, besides in fleet)
