Ozarks Float/Trip Leader Training Trip

Do you like Canoeing and want to develop additional skills before leading trips? Due to our safety audit results, the Union has set aside money for student development in our leadership and development. This trip will be subsidized with the intent that all participants will be responsible for leading at least 4 trips. These trips will be open to all our members in the next year.

Trip Goals:

• To have fun and engage in sharing best practices of camping, risk management, group management/communication, trip planning, and prep for Hoofer Outing.
• To experience terrain and environments of a more advanced canoeing trip.
• To discuss the upcoming land leader progression for outing participants and leaders.

Expedition:

• We will be focused on exposure to mixed environment and educational sharing rather than pounding out tons of miles. Aka-it’s not an intense number of miles.
• Location- Arkansas, we will be using fleet vehicles.
• March 18th travel, March 19th - March 24th backcountry travel, March 25th travel back.
• Cost-$200.00, covers transportation, group gear, food. Participants responsible for personal gear and fun road food/treats.
