Description

Event Information: This lesson will introduce students to more advanced techniques and skills in the windsurfing fleet. Waterstarts will allow students to begin sailing from the water without needing to start atop a board. Waterstarts are done in heavier wind conditions and students should be confident in upwind and downwind sailing and be proficient in light and heavy wind conditions.

Location: This lesson will meet under the yellow canopy next to the lake lab. If you are unable to find your instructor, or if there is inclement weather, please check in with the Outdoor UW Office.

Prerequisites: Windsurfing Light and Windsurfing Heavy, Windsurfing Shortboard Light 

Students who take this lesson will gain knowledge to practice waterstarts on their own during day sailing and continue to improve their skills in the windsurfing fleet.

Cancellation, Reschedule, and Refund Information
If this event is cancelled more than 24 hours in advance, participants will be notified via the email associated with their membership account. If the event needs to be cancelled within 24 hours of the event start time, the instructor will call each participant individually via the phone number associated with their membership account. We ask that students remove themselves from a lesson as soon as they know they will be unable to attend; lessons dropped within 24 hours of the lesson's start time will be considered a Late Drop. If you no-show for a lesson without informing the instructor, they may temporarily suspend your lesson sign-up privileges.
Equipment/ Gear Required by Participant
This event will occur either partly or primarily on the water. Participants should be prepared to get wet and wear appropriate swimming attire (either a swimsuit or wetsuit). Lifejackets will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Use of sunglasses, sunscreen, and a water bottle are strongly encouraged.
