Event Information

Description

A Saturday with no Badger football means a perfect day for maintaining and restoring the beautiful Lakeshore Nature Preserve. Meet new people, get fresh air, exercise, and explore this beloved landscape. You may even see the last of the prairie flowers in bloom and the leaves beginning to change color as we approach fall! Activities may include removing invasive plants, maintaining trails, planting, seed collecting, or more!

We'll meet at the Picnic Point Entrance Kiosk (2000 University Bay Drive) at 8:45am: you can get to this location via the 80 bus line or biking/walking down the lakeshore path. The event will go from 9:00-11:30 am, let us know if you have to leave early!

Please come prepared by:

- Eating a filling breakfast

-Wearing long pants, a thin long sleeve, and closed-toed shoes

- Bringing at least 1L water and snacks (sometimes snacks and juice are provided by the volunteer coordinator, but don’t count on it)

-Additional resource from the Lakeshore Nature Preserve about preparing for volunteer events can be found here: https://d138k1rt4vd1y.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/27/2017/01/HOW-TO-DRESS-for-Lakeshore-Nature-Preserve-Work-Parties.pdf

Please let us know if you have any comments/questions/concerns/late-Devonian extinction memes/fun plant facts by emailing conservation@hooferouting.org!
