Description

Hi Everyone,

The Outing Club is partnering with a handful of groups on campus to support a very special event called "OUR SHARED WATERS - HEEX HUU HOIK’OROS & WIIGWAASI-JIIMAAN (Ho-Chunk Cottonwood Dugout Canoe & Ojibwe Birchbark Canoe)" on Tuesday, September 24th and Thursday, September 26th. This event will include bringing a Ho-Chunk Dugout Canoe and an Ojibwe Birchbark Canoe (the canoe on display in Four Lakes Dining Hall) to the union and paddled on Lake Mendota.

The Outing Club is going to be providing canoes for this event so student groups and community members can get on the water with these Indigenous boats.

I am looking for folx who are interested in volunteering their time to help move canoes and equipment in and out of the boathouse, help with liability and risk waivers, and help people get on and off the water.

Please note - No paddling experience is required, just a good heart and helping hands.
