Description

Hey Hoofers!

As the Instruction co-chairs, we have been developing a Basic Leader Training program to standardize the training of Outing Club's trip leaders. This program was started last year but did not have the man/womanpower for it be finished, so we have picked it back up this year and created a committee to get it done!

This is an event to present our first finished video to the club and listen to your feedback. Before Tuesday 3/26, we will send out an email to the whole club with a link to the video and a link to an online feedback form. This is for anyone who is not able to attend this feedback session and would still like to contribute their thoughts, though this is also a time when you could watch the video on your own time before seeing it again at this session. This video is about the different online resources for leaders (websites, Facebook pages, and Google Drive).

More about the Basic Leader Training: Prospective Outing trip leaders of all disciplines will take this program to learn the basic skills and logistics necessary to officially become a leader and lead a trip. This curriculum will consist of a short “course” on Canvas plus an in-person workshop. The vision for the curriculum is 6 original videos and supplemental instructions for the Canvas page as well as a script/outline for the in-person seminar portion. Prospective leaders will still need the appropriate ratings to lead trips in their desired disciplines, but they will also need to have completed this course.

We will give more detail about the timeline and purpose of this program at this event. Please RSVP so we know how many people to expect. Email alaev@wisc.edu or efernandez4@wisc.edu with any questions!
