Hey ya’ll! We’ll be heading to the south in November to extend the backpacking season for a backpacking trip at the Red River Gorge in Kentucky. The Red River Gorge is a beautiful place, with gorgeous rock formations and scenic lookouts! We’ll be hiking around the foothills of the majestic Appalachian mountains, so there will be elevation gain and loss.

This trip will start by meeting at Memorial Union at 1pm on Friday, 11/18. We will drive 9 hours to the trailhead, and then hike all day on Saturday and Sunday. We will leave the RRG area early Monday morning, and will get back around 7pm Monday night. This being said, please check exam and paper schedules before signing up for this trip! You have to be able to miss class half of the day on Friday and the full day Monday, as well as be able to hike all weekend without internet access. 

The pre-trip meeting for this trip is Tuesday 11/8 at 8:30pm.
