2022 Sea Kayaks & More at Door County - Labor Day Weekend - Save the Date

Friday, Sept 2rd, 2021  through Monday, Sep 5th, 2022 

The next episode of the great annual Hoofer Labor Day Trip to Door County! 

So we will have a 3-day weekend coming up and Labor Day Weekend is summer at its peak. So that means one thing. We are spending the weekend doing what the Outing Club does best: playing outside on the water and on land. It will be a smorgasbord of outdoor activities. We will have sea kayaking, biking, hiking, campfires and day trips into local lakeside towns. Some highlights of the trip:

-Cycle and take the ferry to beautiful Washington Island

-Hike in Penninsula and Newport State Park.  Beautiful coastline and forests.

-Sea kayak Lake Michigan.  Do some surfing at Whitefish Dunes. Paddle alongside the sea caves! 

-We camp in Newport State Park. At the top of Door Co. Unlike other campgrounds this has secluded walk-in sites There is a beach where we have morning coffee.  It is close to Door County's lakeside towns and has tons of hiking going through the campsite. 

-Spend time around the campfire, on the beach, and it’s all with great people

-Stargaze and watch the orbiting satellites go by under the dark sky. Newport State Park is an International Dark Sky Park. 

We will most likely have a few cars going up to carry gear and participants.  Dependant on Covid protocol in place at the time of the trip. 

The cost of this trip is typically $50 to $75 per person for gas and campsite fees. Plus your cost of food.
