Description

Come join us on the Lake Mendota lakefront to learn about the basics of ice climbing! We will have an ice block set up to learn how to swing an ice axe, screw in ice anchors, and have fun with friends outside! No prior climbing experience is needed for this event, and this event is open to anybody. 

Please dress warm (i.e hat, gloves, jacket, boots) it will be chilly out. Facemasks and physical distancing will be required at all times.

Safety plan information to be shared with attendees:
Masks will be required at all times. Physical distancing of greater than 6 feet. No food or drink will be allowed at this event to ensure proper mask wearing. Registration is required for this event.
Sanitation plan for any equipment used during the event:
All of the gear will be stanitized before and after the event. Everyone will touch the gear only when they are wearing their gloves or mittens.

If there is inclement weather, we will let participants know by Thursday, Feb. 4th at 7pm via email.
Trip Purpose/Goals
This is a social event aimed at introducing people to ice climbing and to the Mountaineering club.
