Spring Break Whitewater Kayaking in the Smoky Mountains
So I did the math:
(Amazing people + Tiny plastic boats + Chilly (refreshing) North Carolina mountain rivers) x 6 days = Infinite Smiles and Countless great stories
Two groups of whitewater paddlers will head south to the mountains of the TN/NC boarder for spring break, March 14-21. Both groups will travel together and bunk together. But they will paddle different rivers during the day.
Group A: The Nantahala Outdoor Center will provide instruction and training for a group of R2 rated paddlers. This will be a chance for novice paddlers serious about advancing their whitewater skills to work with an instructor at a world class paddling school.
Group B: A small group of R3p/R3 and above rated paddlers will stay at the Nantahala Outdoor Center and venture out to explore the amazing class III whitewater rivers in the area.
Estimated cost: Total ~$1,000.
~$650 for instruction at NOC + $300-350 for fuel, food, and lodging.
***It is possible this cost may be partially offset by Hoofer grants****
This trip will not be open for self-signup. If you are seriously interested or have any questions please contact Bryan Wathen (bawathen@wisc.edu) or Caroline Rose (cmr.rose@gmail.com)
