Canoe Lake Lesson

Need your canoe lake lesson??  I’m going to lead a canoe lake lesson to get your rating so you can take club tandom canoes out on the lake with another Hoofer Outing Club member. Let me know if you would like to help with the lesson and then I can increase the number of students. Or if you would like to shadow me to become familiar with doing the canoe lake lesson. 

This lesson will teach you how to work as a team to make a tandem canoe go where you want it to go. We’ll also learn about the club, the rating system, how to check out boats, introduce canoe strokes, practice on the water, lake rules plus more. 

A swim test is also needed to take out canoes.  A swim test isn’t part of the lesson. Most club trips require the standard swim test. The life guards at the swim pier can administer the test.  I’ll show you where you can change and lock up your belongings while you take the test and where to go when you are coming to the union and want to take the test. The lifeguard is there daily from 11am to sunset in good weather. 

We don’t plan on getting wet but wear shoes and clothes that can get wet just in case.
