Event Information

Description

This trip requires a lake rating in a whitewater kayak and a standard swim test. This trip is meant as an introduction to paddling kayaks on moving water. This is beginner-friendly event and we will teach the basics for kayaks of moving water maneuvers: eddy turns, peel-outs, and ferries.

We will meet at 9:00 AM at Park Street Circle to load kayaks and return around 1:00 PM or earlier.  We will spend our time practicing on the Yahara River by the Tenney Park Locks.

Water & air temperatures are likely to be cool, so wet suits, paddling jackets, thermal layers & foot wear are required.  Participants will get wet & swims are likely, so a thermal synthetic or wool top that will keep you warm when wet, is recommended. The club has wet suits and paddling jackets that can be used on the trip.  Nose plugs, snack or lunch and water bottle is also recommended.  A towel & a change of clothing is highly recommended

Rain date of Sunday April 21, 2019.

Will open for sign-up once approved by Water Safety Chairpersons.
