Event Information

Description

ASA 105 is an intensive 8-week classroom course that will equip participants to safely navigate inland and coastal waters.

Course topics include: chart reading, chart plotting, compass reading, compass corrections, bearings, fixes, current vector corrections, tides, navigation rules,  Aides to Navigation (ATONs), and navigation publications.

The skills presented in this course are essential for anyone wishing to sail waters larger than Lake Mendota. Students who have completed this course in the past claim that ASA 105 was a challenging experience that helped transform them to become better equipped, more informed, safer, and more skillful sailors. ASA 105 is a requirement for anyone wishing to take ASA 106: Advanced Coastal Cruising.
