Siege MYC Race- Beginner

Prerequisite: Ground School

This lesson will be a "Race Practice".   Race lessons tend to be more fast-paced, so come prepared to learn. No racing experience is necessary, but we recommend some amount of sailing experience prior to taking a race lesson. Positions will rotate each lesson.

Lessons focus on racing techniques, tactics, racing culture and rules, communication skills, crewing and skippering, and judgment. Topics covered vary depending on conditions. They include boat handling, flying a spinnaker, operating under motor, selecting sails and rigging, among others.

The lesson will meet by the Memorial Union Boathouse. Lessons will proceed in all weather except thunderstorms. Please dress appropriately and expect cooler temperatures on the lake.
