Description

Horicon Marsh Sunday May 6, 2018

We will be leading sea kayaks and tandem canoes on Sunday May 6 to the Horicon Marsh. This is a very beautiful scenic trip.

This has been an annual trip that the club has done many years in the past.  The Horicon Marsh is 45 minutes from Madison and is the largest freshwater cattail marsh in the United States. It is the site of both a national and state wildlife refuge. We will look for birds migrating back to the North. We typically see nesting eagles, pelicans, trumpeter swans, and numerous other species of migrating birds. Bring your binoculars and water-proof cameras.

Rating: For sea kayakSK0 rating and completed standard swim test are required. For a canoecanoe lake lesson and completed standard swim test are required.

Meet: Arrive at the Memorial Union boathouse at 9:00 am. We will load kayaks and canoes and head out immediately thereafter.      We should be back by 6 pm.

More details will be available to those who sign up in a separate email to follow.
