Event Information

Description

The Lofoten Islands are a chain of islands in far northern Norway---north of the Arctic Circle. The islands are marked by jagged mountains rising up 3000 feet seemingly straight from the sea. The Lofotens also are the historic center of the cod fishing industry in Norway. In June 2017 a group of 7 paddlers (6 of them Hoofers or Hoofer alumni) paddled for a week in the Lofotens. It was simply spectacular---24-hour sun (well, daylight---we had some rain and clouds!) and an ever-changing, ever breath-taking panorama of snow speckled, craggy mountains, deep fjords, turquoise waters, charming fishing villages, and picturesque farms.

After the regular HOC meeting on Tuesday, October 17th, I'll lead a slide presentation about this trip. I think you'll be amazed. Come see where Hoofers paddling can take you!

No need to sign up, but I appreciate it if you do just to give me an idea of how many people to expect.
