This is an intro to Backpacking Hoofer Trip

What: Backpacking on the Superior Hiking Trail around Temperance State Park Minnesota with a summit of the highest peak in Minnesota, Carlton Peak.

When: Friday night August 18th through Sunday night, August 20th

How: Driving a fleet vehicle! If anyone has a personal vehicle that we can use instead of fleet, the price will be reduced!!

Who: Crew Size of 7 or 5 Hoofer Outing Club Members. No previous backpacking experience required. Previous camping experience preferred.

What's included: Transportation, On Trail food 6 meals, permits and backpacking equipment

What's not included: Food on the drive up and drive back.

Why: Because backpacking is fun and this is a great intro trip if you'd like to do some of the bigger backpacking trips HOC does - Appalachian Trail, Colorado, and Washington to name a few.

Deposit Required: $85 To pay. (If someone has a personal vehicle we can use instead of fleet the payment will be reduced to $60) please give your payment to Rachel Christenson via cash, or Venmo (preferred). Rachel’s Venmo is “Rachel-Christenson-2” Please caption it “SHT Backpacking”. When I receive payment, I'll move you from the waitlist to the trip roster.

Friday night: Madison to Temperance State Park, 6.5 hour drive. Explore Caribou Falls (very pretty!) and camp at Temperance River state park.

Saturday: Backpacking!

Sunday: Backpacking and 6.5 hour drive back home.
