Ice Age Trail Maintenance- Dane County

Hey Hoofs,

About 8 years ago, members of the Hoofers Outing Club built a sweet little trail in conjunction with the main Ice Age Trail west of Madison, called the Table Bluff Segment. Becasue this segment is scenic and close to Madison, it gets used A LOT, and it has some damage that the Dane County Chapter of the Ice Age Trail Alliance needs to repair. They have put out a call to Hoofers to see if we can muster some troops again and get this done. Let's do this!!!!!

I have to work on Saturday, April 29nth, and Chris also cannot make it, but this is something many of you can do. I will help you organize! But I need both a volunteer leader and some trailbuilding volunteers to head out to Table Bluff (about 15 miles west of Madison) and spend a lovely Saturday helping the trail.

Cannot go on those backpacking trips that weekend because they are full? Come build trail instead.....

Everyone who uses trails should help build or maintain a trail at some point - this includes you!!!!! It's fun and a great break from schoolwork for your student  brains, or from the stress of your regular job (if you are a community member). Please volunteer. Begin by signing up for this trip to help me organize, and if you are willing to serve as the day's leader, send me an e-mail. You won't be alone out there - it is a chapter work day so there will be more than just Hoofers, but they have asked us to come, which they do not often do.

So do yourselves, and your predecessors, proud. Help maintain the trail the club built.....If we get a group, but no vehicles, we still have money in the Ice Age Trail budget and we'll get a fleet van.

I'll be at the meeting the next two Tuesdays doing my best Paul Revere to inspire you locals to get out and do something for your cause. (It is Paul Revere Day, after all, and the trail should be one of your causes).
