WFA/WFR Scenarios Night

Who: Any Hoofers member who has completed their WFA, WFR, or WEMT certification within the past 5 years. *Note: this means your certification does NOT need to be current as long as you took the class less than 5 years ago.

What: Julie Brown (Outing and Scuba Advisor) and I will be putting on Scenarios nights throughout the semester. Much like you did during your certification class, the group will be broken into Patients and Responders. Patients will be given a Scenario (fell from a rock ledge, crashed riding a bike, etc.) and Responders will practice the Patient Assessment and focused responses. This is a great opportunity to practice (and remember) what you learned during training, share insights you have gained from real-life experiences, and learn from others who have different experiences than your own. WFRs especially will be able to offer great guidance to WFAs.

When: The following Tuesday nights at 7:30pm: January 31st, February 21st, March 7th, and April 11th. If interest is high, we will schedule more. :)

Where: At first, all Scenarios nights will take place at Memorial Union (exact room TBA). When the weather gets nicer, we may plan to meet at an outdoor location such as Picnic Point or the Arboretum to practice in a more realistic setting.

Supplies: Please bring the gear you would normally have when doing the activities you love to do. For example, if you’re a backpacker, bring your backpack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, trekking poles, first aid kit, etc. This will allow us to simulate the supplies you would have on hand if you came across a patient in real life. We will also have some additional supplies to supplement your own gear. Additionally, we will have theatrical makeup so we can paint on some great injuries!
