Iowa whitewater: exploratory trip

You read that right: Iowa whitewater. Not an oxymoron. There are now 3 whitewater play parks to our southwest. We'll be checking out at least one of them---likely the one at Charles City. Maybe another. Depends on flows and our group. Our plan is to leave Madison early Saturday morning, July 30th, and return Sunday night, July 31st. We'll camp somewhere that Saturday night. Costs will be gas and food---mostly on your own. There also are fees to paddle the parks.

I've got one experienced paddler helping me out who knows these places well. We want to keep this trip small---maximum group size of maybe 8 with leaders; for this size we will need another driver able to carry both boats and people.

To participate in this trip you must have an R2 rating at a minimum [update: if you are a strong R1 paddler and interested, talk to me; we can probably accommodate 1 or 2 R1 paddlers--please ask me before signing up]; you'll want to be reasonably comfortable and confident paddling and playing in Class 2 rapids and play features. Having a reliable roll---or working on it---would be really helpful, too. Send me an email with any questions you have.
